Human connection is critical to a satisfying life.
Connection is crucial. We are social creatures. The more disconnected we become from each other, the more mental and emotional distress shows up.
Studies have shown that connection reduces anxiety and depression. I believe we can take this one step further and say that connection increases meaning in daily activities.
When we feel alone, everything else is harder.
And, unfortunately, loneliness is the one thing that’s common to all my clients.
And when you’re lonely, you can’t help but question your worth: “If I were good enough, people would want to be around me.”
Our culture has us drifting farther apart.
As the world changes, we’re losing the opportunity to run into others and connect naturally. Connection takes more effort now than ever before. Often it’s easier to stay alone than to reach out and admit you need others.
We have been trained to be self-reliant. We are all “supposed” to meet our own needs. But how can we meet our social needs independently?
To cope, many of us try to neglect the parts of ourselves that need to be connected to others, focusing instead on what we can do and achieve for ourselves.
Mental health is about managing and coping through the bad times.
Achieving good mental health is NOT about creating a “perfect life” without struggle.
I will help you build the internal tools you need to face life’s struggles. My goal is to help you get to a place where you don’t need me anymore. I want you to grow in a way that equips you to cope and connect with others so that you’re not in therapy forever.
I will help you root out what roadblocks stop you from building the connections you need. We will identify what needs to change before you can connect, and I will show you how to make those changes.
