We’ve never had the kind of disruptions in life that we’re all experiencing.
At one time, you never would have imagined video chatting with a therapist. It’s supposed to be held in an office, right?
But now, even though we have the option to do in-person therapy, the powerful appeal of virtual therapy remains.
Online therapy is a different kind of experience, but it’s one that many people now prefer to “the old days” of doing it in person in an office.
The convenience of online sessions is freeing.
You can now access therapy from the safety of home. You won’t have to commute anywhere, and pajama pants are welcome!
You can have sessions whenever you want – even on your lunch break.
If you have school-age kids, you won’t need a babysitter. Just set up “movie time” for the kids and go into the other room for your session.
There’s also a privacy advantage. Maybe you live in a small town and don’t want to see your therapist while you’re out on a date! If we work together online and you live outside of Santa Rosa, we might never see each other in person. Or… maybe you just need someone who gets you in a way your few local therapists don’t.
It’s so easy to get started. Here are some things to keep in mind…
First, your safety and security are a priority. Our virtual therapy sessions will occur through a HIPAA-compliant video chat, which means that your private information will remain secure in an online world.
You can do your sessions with your computer or smartphone (but computers offer a better video chatting experience).
High-speed Wi-Fi is acceptable, but if you can plug directly into Ethernet access, we will have a smoother connection.
If you have others at home, it’s best to pick the room that feels the most private (and close the door behind you).
Logging into the session is easy. I have a unique URL that you bookmark and go to using any web browser. You allow camera access, type in your name, and click “Join Session.” That’s it!
